James Herren
With more than 20 years in the automotive industry, I’ve built my career around helping customers, developing strong teams, and creating a dealership experience people can feel good about.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work in nearly every area of automotive retail, giving me a well-rounded understanding of both the customer experience and dealership operations. My experience has included roles in sales, floor management, sales management, general sales management, finance, sales and management training, new and used vehicle management, inventory management, used vehicle acquisition, customer service and customer care, automotive advertising, digital marketing, SEM, SEO, OTT, email marketing, custom vehicles, and negotiations.
That broad experience has helped shape my leadership style. I believe the best managers understand the responsibilities of the people they lead, remain actively involved in the business, and never lose sight of the customer experience.
Tracy has been home to my family and me for more than 26 years. My wife and I have been married for 24 years, and we are proud parents of three children—a 24-year-old daughter, a 21-year-old son, and a 16-year-old daughter. All three attended Tracy High School, participated in multiple sports, and were part of the school’s Agricultural Sciences program.
Being actively involved in the Tracy community has always been important to me. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to coach youth baseball, soccer, and basketball. Some of my favorite memories have come from being on the field or court, watching young athletes develop confidence, learn teamwork, overcome challenges, and grow both as competitors and as people.
Professionally, I have spent the past 14 years with the Harvey Auto Group at Tracy Honda. I began as the Internet Sales Manager, was promoted to New Car Sales Manager, and later had the opportunity to become General Sales Manager.
Having spent so many years living, working, coaching, and raising my family in Tracy, this community means much more to me than simply being the place where I work. Many of the people who walk through our doors are neighbors, friends, former athletes, parents I’ve coached alongside, or families I’ve known for years.
My goal at Tracy Honda is simple: provide every customer with a professional, transparent, and welcoming experience while building relationships that last well beyond the purchase of a vehicle. I also believe strongly in developing employees, creating opportunities for people to grow, and building a team culture based on accountability, integrity, hard work, and customer service.
I’m proud to call Tracy home, proud to be actively involved in our community, and proud to represent Tracy Honda and the Harvey Auto Group.
