Last of the 2022 Honda Insights Arrive Soon

Imagine a stunningly attractive sedan that gets an EPA rated 55 MPG City / 49 MPG Highway and starts at under $30,000. Way under $30,000, at a base MSRP of $25,760. That’s the 2022 Honda Insight. And for those reasons alone, you can imagine how disappointed Honda Insight enthusiasts were to find out that, after 2+ decades, the model is going away. But the story has a happy ending: the success of the Insight’s Hybrid technology simply means that Honda has decided to focus on producing the electrified versions of the Accord, Civic, and CR-V. What was a novelty back in 1999 has gone mainstream, so the Insight will live on through its better known siblings in the Honda family.

Smart Shoppers Are Waiting

We anticipate a lot of Northern California Honda Insight devotees contemplating trading up to the 2022 model as their last chance to own a new Honda Insight. Especially now that gas prices have risen so dramatically. When you can pay under $30,000 for a brand new Honda and get 55 MPG cruising around town, it makes financial sense to NOT miss this opportunity.

What Sets the Honda Insight Apart?

First, we have to say it’s the incredible gas mileage. For those of us not yet ready to take the plunge into an all-electric vehicle, the 2022 Honda Insight makes a compelling argument for going hybrid. After 20+ years of steady advancements, it’s a proven hybrid system.

Next is comfort. That mileage puts the Honda Insight into the mileage category of some smaller hybrid vehicles that just don’t match the Insight’s interior spaciousness and design. So you get great gas mileage along without feeling cramped or unsafe. Additionally, the Honda Insight was designed to be a daily driver, so its suspension has been refined to the point where we consider it a truly comfortable driving experience.

Worth mentioning — while we’re on the topic of spaciousness — the 2022 Honda Insight boasts an impressive 15.1 cu. ft. of cargo capacity.

We also like the Insight’s rational approach to the infotainment system, starting with an 8-inch touchscreen interface that is more than large enough for our needs and doesn’t dominate the car’s interior. What we really like is that it also includes a volume knob, which is now missing on many cars and we like having that option. The Insight comes with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio, Bluetooth, Pandora compatibility, and HondaLink. All-in-all, it’s a great set of features considering the low starting price of $25,760.

Speaking of that price for the base model, it includes an impressive list of safety and driver-assist features as standard equipment. And the 2022 Honda Insight itself received a 5-Star safety rating in the NHTSA crash test and IIHS gave it the 2022 Top Safety Pick+ honors.
